What is Aave (AAVE)?

The Aave Protocol is a decentralized non-custodial liquidity protocol where users can earn interest on deposits and borrow assets. The Aave Protocol is powered by the Ethereum token Aave (AAVE).

Aave interest bearing tokens (aTokens) are pegged to the value of the underlying asset that is deposited in Aave protocol. While the underlying asset is loaned out to borrowers, aTokens in your wallet accrue interest in real time.

Flash Loans are the first uncollateralized loan option in DeFi, which allow developers to borrow any available amount of assets without collateral, as long as the liquidity is returned to the protocol within one block transaction.

Aave V2 allows you to swap deposited assets (even assets used as collateral) to another asset. With Aave V2, you can also repay your debt/loans with your deposited collateral.

Aavenomics is a formalized path to the decentralization and autonomy of the Aave Protocol, and covers governance mechanisms & financial incentives, which aims to share a vision of alignment between various stakeholders within the Aave ecosystem, protocol functionality and the AAVE token.
